Audio Recording Guidelines

Support Services, where appropriate and reasonable, may recommend a student with a documented, qualifying disability be permitted to audio record class lectures as a form of academic accommodation. Use of the accommodation of audio recording class lectures is subject to the following conditions:

  • Audio recordings of class lectures are only for the student’s personal use in study and preparation related to the class.
  • The student acknowledges that the audio recordings are sources, the use of which is governed by A-B Tech’s Code of Student Conduct.
  • The student will audio record only the voice of the lecturer, not the voices of other students such as in discussion sessions.
  • The student may not share the audio recordings with any other person at any time, even if that person is in his/her/their class.
  • Permission to audio record does not give permission to video record.
  • Audio recording is managed so as not to disturb others or call attention to the audio recording in progress.
  • The student agrees to destroy any audio recordings that were made when they are no longer needed for academic work.

Students who have been granted permission to audio record class lectures as an accommodation must agree to abide by each of these provisions.
