Graduate named 'best young chef in the world'

Daniel GormanA-B Tech Community College graduate Daniel Gorman has been named the  “best young chef in the world” after beating six chefs in international competition May 3 in Daejeon, South Korea.

Gorman was named “best young chef of the Americas” and earned the right to advance to global competition by winning the World Association of Chefs’ Societies Junior Chefs Challenge for the Americas in 2011. In the South Korean contest, he competed against chefs from Australia, China, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.

Applications are being accepted for Pharmacy Technology program

The application period is open at A-B Tech for its Pharmacy Technology program beginning in fall 2012. Fourteen students will be admitted into the first class through a competitive application process. The deadline to apply is May 31. 

Soto receives Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship

Ana SotoA-B Tech student Ana Soto is one of 60 students nationwide awarded a prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship for up to $30,000 per year.

Honors Program at A-B Tech begins Fall 2012

The Honors Program is an interdisciplinary learning communities approach to education that emphasizes interdependence between disciplines and encourages students to see their education as a comprehensive experience. It also includes a leadership course to be taken in one of the summer semesters.

Lavender Fund helps single parents stay in school at A-B Tech

An A-B Tech program designed to help single parents enroll in college and stay in school boasts a success rate nearly a third higher than the national average, but the program is in jeopardy of ending unless matching funds are raised for a challenge grant by June 30.

Hemlock Building Closed Until Further Notice
