Graduate named 'best young chef in the world'

Daniel GormanA-B Tech Community College graduate Daniel Gorman has been named the  “best young chef in the world” after beating six chefs in international competition May 3 in Daejeon, South Korea.

Gorman was named “best young chef of the Americas” and earned the right to advance to global competition by winning the World Association of Chefs’ Societies Junior Chefs Challenge for the Americas in 2011. In the South Korean contest, he competed against chefs from Australia, China, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.

Minority Student Leadership Academy receives grant from Sisters of Mercy

C-Span Campaign 2012 bus to visit A-B Tech

A-B Tech Community College students will be featured on a national show when the C-SPAN Campaign Bus comes to campus. Leading up to the May 8 North Carolina Republican presidential primary and looking toward the Charlotte Democratic National Convention, the bus will embark on a six-day tour of universities and towns throughout the Tar Heel state with its first stop at A-B Tech.

Max Queen, Vice President of Administrative Services, was honored with a celebration after he retired from A-B Tech with three decades of service. AprilThe A-B Tech Foundation held its annual fundraiser April in Asheville April 26 at the Brumit Center for Culinary Arts and Hospitality on the college’s Asheville campus. The theme was Picnic on the Parkway. 

Downing conducts On Course II seminar

On Course

Dr. Skip Downing, the author of "On Course: Strategies for Creating success in College and In Life" conducted informal seminars with faculty and a four-day workshop on the A-B Tech campus. The "On Course" textbook is used nationally in college success courses. The new edition will contain a student essay by one of A-B Tech's students.
