Leadership positions filled in Instructional Services

A-B Tech has filled three leadership positions in its Instructional Services division. Melissa Quinley has been named Vice President of Instructional Services after serving in that position on an interim basis for the past 10 months. She has also served as Dean of Academic Success and Chair of Developmental Studies at the College.
Quinley earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of the Pacific (CA), a master’s in math education from the University of Georgia, and an educational specialist degree in higher education (developmental education concentration) from Appalachian State University.
In addition, she attended the Kellogg Institute for the Training and Certification of Developmental Educators and the 2008 Advanced Kellogg Institute and is a certified Developmental Education Specialist.
Gene Loflin has been hired as the Associate Vice President of Instructional Services, coming to A-B Tech from South Piedmont Community College where he was the Vice President of Student Learning. Prior to that position, he was Vice President of Academic Affairs at the American InterContinental University in Atlanta.
Loflin earned a bachelor’s degree in religion from Mars Hill College, a master’s in reading education from Appalachian State University and a doctorate in reading and language arts from Florida State University. He attended the Kellogg Institute for the Training and Certification of Developmental Educators.
Sue Olesiuk has been named Dean of Academic Success at A-B Tech. As the college’s former Dean of Academic Success, she instituted a curriculum redesign for the Success and Student Skills program. She also served as a History Instructor and Director of the Basic Skills program at the College.
Olesiuk earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s in secondary social studies education from UNC. She is a member of the A-B Tech’s Executive Leadership Institute.
