Choosing a Major-Career Development Services

Pre-major courses prepare students for their intended majors. Each major has its own list of required and recommended courses. Some of these courses may also be used to meet general education requirements.

If you know what you will major in at the 4-year UNC institution, please be sure to use the matching pre-major sheet for your intended major. Students who successfully complete a pre-major course of study and who meet the requirements for admission to the university may be eligible to apply for admission to the major with junior standing.

Pre-major sheets are only intended to be used as a guideline. It is important that you contact the institution to which you intend to transfer, to get a more specific listing of courses that will serve as pre-major courses at that respective institution.
