Q:What does the Therapeutic Massage curriculum provide?
A: The therapeutic massage curriculum prepares graduates to work in direct client care settings to provide manipulation, methodical pressure, friction and kneading of the body for maintaining wellness or treating alterations in wellness throughout the lifespan.

Q: How long does it take to become a licensed massage therapist in North Carolina?
A: You can become licensed to practice massage and bodywork therapy in about nine months to one year. You would complete our first year Diploma program, pass the MBLEx Examination and apply for North Carolina Licensure for Massage & Bodywork Therapy.

Q: Is the MBLEx Exam hard? How many questions are there?
A: Like any exam, the level of difficulty is usually determined by the amount of time and effort you put into the preparation. There are 160 multiple choice questions.

Q: Where can I find a job?
A: Many massage therapy jobs are found in chiropractic clinics, spas, salons, resorts, health and wellness centers, aquatic and fitness centers, cruise ships and health care facilities.

Q: Can I receive a Degree in Therapeutic Massage?
A: Yes, you can! In fact, many cruise ships, resorts and especially physicians' offices require an Associates Degree in Applied Science – Therapeutic Massage.

Q: What’s the difference between the Diploma and the Degree Programs?
A: The Diploma program takes one year to complete and includes Swedish massage technique, Aromatherapy applications, Reflexology, Hot Stone massage, Asain techniques, Thai massage, Seated Chair massage and more. The Associate Degree program is a two year program and concentrates on Deep Tissue technique, Neuromuscular Therapy, Co-op Work Experience and more.

A: North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program (nchealthcareers.com) states that a licensed massage therapist in North Carolina has a salary range of $20,000 - $50,000.
