This course introduces the origins and historical development of art. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of design principles to various art forms including but not limited to sculpture, painting, and architecture. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and analyze a variety of artistic styles, periods, and media. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts.
ART 114 Art History Survey I

This course covers the development of art forms from ancient times to the Renaissance. Emphasis is placed on content, terminology, design, and style. This course introduces the elements and principles of design as applied to two-dimensional art. Emphasis is placed on the structural elements, the principles of visual organization, and the theories of color mixing and interaction. Upon completion, students should be able to understand and use critical and analytical approaches as they apply to two-dimensional visual art. This course introduces basic studio problems in three-dimensional visual design. Emphasis is placed on the structural elements and organizational principles as applied to mass and space. This course introduces rendering the human figure with various drawing materials. This course introduces the use of the computer as a tool for solving visual problems. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of computer literacy and design through bit-mapped image manipulation. This course introduces the materials and techniques used in creative layout design for publication. Emphasis is placed on design for advertising in a variety of techniques and media including computer graphics. DRA 111 Theater Appreciation

This course provides a study of the art, craft, and business of the theater. Emphasis is placed on the audience's appreciation of the work of the playwright, director, actor, designer, producer, and critic. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a vocabulary of theatre terms and to recognize the contributions of various theatre artists. Attendance at one play performance and in-depth readings of two plays are required. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts.
DRA 112 Literature of the Theatre

This course provides a survey of dramatic works form the classical Greek through the present. Emphasis is placed on the language of drama, critical theory, and background as well as on play reading and analysis.
