Associate in Science (A.S.)
The Associate in Science degree program is for students who plan to transfer to senior colleges and universities to continue study for a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Students entering the A.S. program, including pre-major articulation courses, must have good basic skills to ensure success in college-level courses.
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College endeavors to facilitate the transfer of credit to senior institutions. However, the College cannot guarantee that all of its courses will transfer to any given senior institution for any specific program. If a student takes the courses in the Common Course Library that are indicated as being transferable, the courses will transfer to the North Carolina universities. Therefore, students should plan their program in close coordination with the senior institution to which they plan to transfer. The sooner a student chooses a senior institution and a major there, the easier the task of selecting courses will be. Required courses should be taken as soon as possible. Courses listed in the catalog may not be available every semester.
Students who complete the Associate in Science degree may transfer to senior institutions to pursue majors such as:

All college transfer courses submitted for graduation require a minimum grade of “C”. Courses selected may vary according to requirements of the pre-major, senior institution, etc. Health and Physical Education courses may be selected any semester.
